I love to play a “what if” game with friends and family ~ especially when someone is feeling stuck, discouraged, afraid, etc.
I’ll ask, “Okay, imagine that it’s a year from now. Tell me about your life. Tell me the best thing that’s happened to you in the last 12 months. Tell me what you’re so excited about that you tell everyone. Describe what’s fun and what you like best about what you’re doing or where you’re living or who you’re loving.”
Sometimes it takes time to get a response from them. Sometimes they are so down in the dumps that they can’t see straight.
Eventually, they say something. That something leads to more conversation which leads to different thoughts which lead to better feelings which lead to more actions.
My “what if…” game also applies to the business world.
Take a few minutes and see your business as if it’s March 29, 2008. Imagine what you want and answer these questions:
What’s the best thing that’s happened in the last 12 months?
What are you so excited about that you’re investing money, time, and people towards doing?
What do you like best about the work you do?
What do you enjoy most each day?
