Technology-free Day!

I have declared Wednesday, February 21, 2007 to be my personal day away from technology. I’m actually writing this post on Tuesday to prepare for my day of technology-free fun…..

Just for today I am leaving the BlackBerry turned off. Just for today I’m carrying my cell phone with me in case of an emergency and not because I want to chat with friends & family. Just for today I’m skipping my usual routine of checking email, voicemail, etc. throughout the day. Just for today I’m avoiding the internet and the TV (especially difficult since Lost is a new episode, but I’ve already programmed the DVR)

Today I’m celebrating the life I have…..

I’m grateful for my home and especially my fireplace to make my family room warm & cozy in the evenings. I’m grateful for the money I receive from working with people I like. I’m grateful for the adventures I’ve enjoyed, fun memories, joyful relationships. I’m grateful for my friendships – friends who have known me for years and friends who I have just met. I am especially grateful for friends from other countries who call to tell me that they’re thinking of me (I love it even if it is 1 a.m. because they miscalculated the time difference). I’m grateful for new ideas and new activities. I am grateful for the opportunities I am creating and for the fun that is yet to become real. I’m grateful for the winter art events now underway – Arizona Fine Art Expo and Celebration of Fine Art. I’m grateful for flower bouquets (memorable ones from my past and hopeful for future ones). I’m grateful for feeling beautiful and pampered with a manicure/pedicure today. I’m grateful for knowing I am loved – past, present, and future. I’m grateful for people from my past, and I’m grateful for people I have yet to meet. I am grateful for every relationship because I am who I am today as a result. I am grateful for the lessons I already learned and the lessons I will learn soon. I am grateful for all that I have and all that I am and all that I am becoming.

I truly believe that all is well in my world. And so it is.

  1. Hi Lucinda,
After reading your post, I think you may be interested in an idea i am trying to promote as of a couple of days ago. I call it a Commfree Day and the idea is to have one day a month without any media and information technologies. I blogged about it in more detail and you are mostly welcome to take a look, let me know what you think, join in, and spread the word if interested.
It’ll be great to hear how was your technology free day.

    Thank you!
