This morning I was blessed to spend a few hours with a friend and former colleague. Laura and I met years ago when we were management consultants for Ernst & Young.
She now has an apparel manufacturing business and I have my business consulting & speaking business. We have taken different steps on the same path to creating a life we love, doing what we enjoy passionately!
After our meeting, I was thinking of ways I could help Laura succeed. While I was still trying to decide what to do, I read a seemingly unrelated statement in an adoption brochure.
“Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act.” Proverbs 3:27
As I read those words, I knew that there was something I could do. See, Laura is in the midst of building her business. She knows some things she needs to do and she is also busy “firefighting” those daily things like paperwork, employees, sales, facility issues, etc.
I know in my heart there are two concrete actions I can take today to help her. I mailed her a copy of Book Yourself Solid with the workbook.
I also committed to doing bi-weekly calls with small business owners. It is an idea that I have thought about and debated for awhile. When I mentioned it to Laura, she said it would be a great thing for her and others like her.
After all, we are moving in the same direction. We may be in different stages of our journeys, but we want the same thing – a life full of joy, success, love, and laughter.
More details on our bi-weekly calls will be coming next week.
Today what can you do to give good to someone else?
It is in your power to act, and I look forward to hearing what you did.
